Fall gravel. Big views. Cozy basecamp. Join RASDak for a long-weekend of riding the Black Hills during peak color—then kick back each night at the beautiful Outlaw Ranch Retreat Center near Custer.

Lodging Details

  • $300 if staying in a cabin
  • $330 if staying in the Retreat Center
  • $360 if staying in the Lodge

Prices exclude SD sales tax and service fees.


Weekend Schedule & Routes

Day 1 — Iconic Roads Day

We’ll showcase two of South Dakota’s most scenic roads:

  • Option A: 49 miles
  • Option B: 26 miles
    Expect granite spires, pigtail bridges, and postcard views.

Day 2 — West of Custer Gravel

Quiet roads, rolling hills, wide-open fall color.

  • Option A: 45 miles
  • Option B: 30 miles

Day 3 — Pringle Out-and-Back

Smooth gravel and a satisfying capstone to the weekend.

  • Option A: 39 miles
  • Option B: 28 miles

All routes are primarily gravel and suitable for gravel or mountain bikes.
Sag will patrol each loop; lunch stops are planned in town.


What to Bring

  • Bike: Gravel or mountain bike in good working order
  • Tires: 38–45c gravel tires recommended (or wider for MTB)
  • Essentials: Helmet, daytime lights, flat repair kit, two water bottles or hydration pack
  • Layers: Mornings can be cool; pack a light shell and warm gloves
  • Extras: Small lock for town stops, cash/card for lunch & coffee

Support & Safety

  • Mechanical support: On-site all weekend courtesy of Berry Fast Bicycles
  • Sag vehicles: Our team offers course coverage and rider assistance
  • Cue sheets & GPX: Provided for each distance option
  • Road etiquette: Obey traffic laws; this is an open-road ride

Riders comfortable with 25–60+ miles on rolling gravel. Pick the distance that fits your day.

What about e-bikes?
If you plan to ride an e-bike, please contact us prior to registration so we can confirm support and charging logistics at Outlaw Ranch.

Can I pick my roommates?
We will do our best to honor requests when registering. Cabins and lodging are designated by men’s/women’s bunks.

What’s the weather like?
Cool mornings, mild afternoons, and high chance of gorgeous fall color. Pack layers and a light rain shell just in case.
